COLLABORATIVE TYPOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
☺️ In an increasingly virtual world, we've decided to move away from the digital approach to fonts and rethink our usual collaborative (digital) workshop bringing it to an analog format. The principles are the same, creating letters using shapes within a grid, but this time manually, with tools; scissors, paper and glue ✂️

BIENVENIDOS AL WORKSHOP DE TIPOGRAFÍA COLABORATIVA
Typeface design is often seen as a complex discipline, one of specialized, often slow and even lonely work. And it honestly can be: the drawing, spacing, rhythm, kerning, curves, contrast, amount of characters, languages, programming, etc.
El diseño de tipografía es visto a menudo como una disciplina compleja, de trabajo específico, muchas veces lento e incluso solitario. Y honestamente lo es, el dibujo, espaciado, ritmo, kerning, curvas, contraste, cantidad de caracteres, lenguajes, programación, etc.
We enjoy doing it and we like to share it / Disfrutamos haciéndolo y nos gusta compartirlo.
That's how the collaborative workshop began in 2018, from a desire to make type design simpler and more accessible, without the need for prior knowledge. As simple as fitting figures to a grid to form letters, reducing the amount of work by doing it collaboratively, dividing the letters, numbers and symbols among several participants to obtain as a result an experimental and functional typeface in record time.
Así es como en 2018 nace el taller colaborativo, desde la inquietud por hacer del diseño de tipografía algo más accesible y simple sin necesidad de tener conocimientos previos. Tan simple como encajar figuras dentro de una grilla para formar letras y alivianar la cantidad de trabajo haciéndolo manera colaborativa, dividiendo las letras, números y símbolos entre varios participantes para obtener como resultado una tipografía experimental y funcional en tiempo record.

We are almost 100 participants, thank you very much to everybody how signed up. You are about to be part of the biggest collaborative typography ever made!

NAME AND GLYPH / NOMBRE Y GLIFO
On the list below you'll find your name and the glyphs that have been assigned to you.
You might have a letter or symbol you've never seen before! Don't worry, start with a little research, you can copy the letters you are not sure about and paste them on Google for a better look. Designing these glyphs is critical to developing a useful typography for multiple languages.

Aquí encontrarás tu nombre y los glifos que te hemos asignado. Es probable que te topes con un glifo que nunca hayas visto! No te preocupes, comienza por investigar un poco, puedes copiar y pegar la letra en Google pera ver más. Diseñar estos glifos es fundamental para desarrollar una tipografía útil para varios idiomas.

Letters with diacritics or accents?
In languages other than English, diacritics change the sound or way the letter is pronounced. The same word with an accent can mean something totally different. We've added a couple more design examples for letters with top and bottom diacritics. Use the examples as a guide for your design and don't be afraid to try and experiment with the shapes!
